Michael Putzel is a journalist and author who covered Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos for two-and-a-half years as a war correspondent for The Associated Press. He went on to report many of the biggest running news stories of his generation, including the Watergate scandal and (from Moscow) the collapse of Soviet Communism. He is the author of The Price They Paid: Enduring Wounds of War, which won the 2015 Indiefab Gold Awards’ "War and Military Nonfiction Book of the Year" for its story of the most intense helicopter battle in history and this battle's lifelong impact on the American warriors who survived it.
