Stefan J. Malecek, PhD, was a Social Work/Clinical Psychology Specialist in Vietnam 1968–1969. He worked for seventeen years on psychiatric units in the San Francisco Bay Area before returning to garner his PhD in 2006. He had a private practice from 2008 to 2013, with 100 percent PTSD vets. His books include the first and second Paul Marzeky mysteries, Crazy Tales of Combat Psychiatry, and Unwitting Witnesses. In press is also Crucible of Shame: Trauma and Transformation. He is currently working on a book entitled The Real Work Begins When You Retire.
